أكدت غادة مضوي، القائمة بأعمال مديرة قسم العمليات والمناصرة في مكتب تنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية أن الناس في سورية عانوا من 12 عاماً من الصراع والأزمة الإنسانية، مشيرة إلى أن 15.3 مليون سوري- أي نحو 70% من جملة سكان سورية- يحتاجون إلى المساعدة الإنسانية، بحسب الموقع الرسمي للأمم المتحدة.
وأعربت عن أملها في ألا يكون العام الحالي عاماً قاتماً آخر بالنسبة للسوريين.
وأضافت أن السوريين يواجهون شتاءً قاسياً مصحوباً بأمطار وفيضانات في خضم استمرار تفشي الكوليرا.
ويعيش 1.8 مليون شخص في الشمال الغربي في مخيمات مكتظة في ظل درجات حرارة تحت التجمد، مشيرة إلى أن الجهود الإنسانية الرامية لمساعدة السوريين في شمال غرب البلاد على مواجهة الشتاء والتأقلم معه تلقت تمويلا بنحو 78% فقط.
وأكدت أن تمديد آلية إيصال المساعدات لمدة ستة أشهر فقط يُلقي بتحديات أمام عمليات الأمم المتحدة الإنسانية والتمويل ويُحدث اضطراباً في اللوجستيات الإنسانية والمشتريات.
