وتواصل فرق الإنقاذ وسط صعوبات كبيرة وهطول أمطار غزيرة وحدوث هزات ارتدادية.
وضرب زلزال بقوة 7.8 درجة على مقياس ريختر تركيا، وتركز في مناطق جنوبها وشمال سورية، مسبِّباً كارثة إنسانية، مع تهدُّم عشرات المباني، وسقوط العشرات من الضحايا المدنيين في عموم المنطقة.
وسُجل خلال الساعات الأولى بعد الزلزال، انهيار عشرات الأبنية السكنية في عدة محافظات سورية منها إدلب وحلب واللاذقية والرقة مع وجود عالقين تحت الأنقاض في عدة مناطق، تلاها عدد من الهزات الارتدادية، قدرت بـ 32 هزة متتالية.
